Once again the Crimson Hands will be sneaking in the door of the Comic Store West on a WOTC release event for some gaming alternatives. I will be running the Hollow Earth adventure Island of Terror adventure in the morning session, 11am-3pm. Drop by and check it out. There may be other CHG events, but I learned from Dark Sun Day, plug early plug often when an event is on the horizon. Stay tuned for further developments. |

Jason has aquired the DC Adventures RPG "dead tree" (aka print as opposed to pdf) version and has begun converting the Global Defense League over to M&M 3rd edition. Check out the latest developments on the Roleplaying Systems forum. |

The first two Crimson Hand events for Aug 21st are progressing nicely. Okay, so I've got a name and a vague outline. The Sword of Damocles is a Mutants & Masterminds event in which the heroes must retake an American missile platform from evil space pirates before they can rain destruction on the innocent people of the Earth, and before heroes with other countries best interests at heart can make a "rescue" of their own. Island of Terror is a Hollow Earth adventure that sends an unwitting group of travellers into the ultimate unknown. Lock and load! There should be at least one more CHG event in the offing for this Comic Store West event. Stay tuned! |

Well, Dark Sun Day wasn't so bright at the Comic Store West, at least not for WOTC. One of the Dark Sun DMs for the morning session was a no show, which worked out okay since only one player showed up. I had two players signed up for the morning Mutants & Masterminds adventure, our very own Jason Altland dropped in, and the Dark Sun DM made four. Although initially too upset to join in, the lone D&D player jumped in for the final battle against Captain Kraken and his leg-breaker-of-the week Rampage. At least Rampage got in a hit or two; poor Captain Kraken got smashed into calamari before he could say 'boo'. The same two signatories for my morning session were also signed up for my Hollow Earth event, but since Jason was prepared to run a Global Defense League adventure I took my players and went to Jason's table. Its good to be a super hero again! The Dark Sun DM for the morning had hung around, which was good as the afternoon session DM was a no show (same guy as had bailed in the morning? investigation ongoing). Two more players looking for Dark Sun action showed up, so the lone player from the morning joined up and there were two three-player games going in the afternoon session. I suspect the person in charge of promoting this event needs a public flogging. Now theres some YouTube gold waiting to be found! And it might produce better results for the next event. Stay tuned... |

August 21st is a D&D special event for the 4e release of the Dark Sun campaign setting. I loved this setting in 2nd, and was more than a little cheesed that it was the red-headed stepchild campaign world of 3.X and only gets some love in my "beloved" 4th edition. But on to the point. Details are sketchy, so stay tuned, but there will be other gaming events run at the Comic Store West on that day. Crimson Hands events. So far we expect at least 2 Mutants & Masterminds events and a Hollow Earth adventure in addition to the regularly scheduled D&D Dark Sun events. And bigger events are in motion. You heard it here first... |
